Glow in the Dark Zumba and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk (Thu. Oct 8, 2015 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

Kirby Medical Center and Piatt County Journal Republican will host the "I Don't Sweat I Glow" Glow in the Dark Zumba and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk on Thursday, October 8th at 6:30pm. This is the 7th year of Paint Piatt Pink – a breast cancer awareness program. The run/walk will be along Kirby’s new Wellness Trail and Zumba will take place in Kirby’s Healing Garden. Paint the Town Pink 5K Color Run/Walk (Sat. Oct 10, 2015 8:00 am - 10:00 am)

Sarah Bush Lincoln and the Mattoon Area Family YMCA are hosting Paint the Town Pink 5K Color Run/Walk on Saturday, October 10th at 9am in Mattoon. Wade's 5K for 5P (Sat. Oct 10, 2015 8:30 am - 10:30 am)

Wade’s 5K for 5P will take place on Saturday, October 10th at 8:30am at Lodge Park in Monticello. The proceeds from this event will assist the 5P Minus Society in spreading awareness and education to affected families and their service providers. Locally, a portion of the proceeds will also assist children with ongoing therapy and educational needs as well as provide an avenue for families to connect and encourage other 5P- families. Diabetes Self-Management Program Classes to be Held Starting October 6, 2015 (Tue. Oct 13, 2015 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm)

The Macon County Health Department will offer an evidence-based Diabetes Self-Management Program at the SIU School of Medicine Family Physicians Office, 250 W. Kenwood Ave in Decatur, beginning Tuesday, October 6th at 2:30pm. Classes are two and a half hours once a week for six weeks, are free and open to all those affected by diabetes, including family members and caregivers. Run 4 Babies 5K Race (Sat. Oct 17, 2015 9:00 am - 11:00 am)

The Run 4 Babies 5K will take place on Saturday, October 17th at 9am at Crystal Lake Park in Urbana. This event will support of Living Alternatives. There will be a fun run for children before the 5K starts at 9am. The race is the first in the Love Never Fails Circuit. Registration is $25 before October 15th. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk (Sat. Oct 17, 2015 9:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk will take place on Saturday, October 17th beginning at 9am at Meadowbrook Park, 2808 S. Race St in Urbana. The walk is to honor those who are fighting the fight, in memory of those who courageously battled breast cancer and in support of all caregivers. Please call or go online for details.

Health Fair and Blood Drive (Sat. Oct 17, 2015 10:00 am - 2:00 pm)

New Beginnings Lutheran Church, 304 E. Dunbar St in Mahomet, will be sponsoring a Health Fair and Blood Donation Drive on Saturday, October 17th, from 10am-2pm. The health fair will feature providers of various health services. The blood donation drive will help meet the needs of many through the Red Cross. For more details please call or email.
