Eric Litwin will be speaking on Monday, May 18th at 6pm at Reed Custer Primary School, 35445 Washington St in Custer Park. Litwin is the author of the Pete the Cat books. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 3-5 in advance and $15 at the door. This event is sponsored by Lunden's Bridge of Love. Tickets may be purchase online.

The 9th Annual SAFE: Scam and Fraud Education Program will be held Tuesday, May 19th at the Vigo County Fairgrounds Expo Building in Terre Haute from 10am-3pm. This Expo will work to prevent telemarketing fraud and related crimes against seniors by promoting awareness and action on preventive strategies by senior consumers, law enforcement, and other community resources to  keep the elderly safe.

Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello will host the Annual Garden Party on Friday, May 29th at 5:30pm. There will be a dinner and silent auction as well as live music. This event is a fundraiser, and all money raised will be used to support the continued maintenance of the gardens. Tickets are $100 each and must be purchased before May 21 online or by calling.

Baby Talk of Decatur will host Grillin' in the Garden, a Low Country Seafood Boil, on Friday, May 29th at 6pm at the office, 500 E. Lake Shore Dr in Decatur. Tickets are $75 for 1 and $125 for 2 and can be obtained by calling, as well as more information.

 

Playing It Safe Safety Fair (Sat. May 30, 2015 9:30 am - 2:00 pm)

The Playing It Safe Safety Fair on Saturday, May 30th from 9:30am-2pm at the Champaign County Fairgrounds in Urbana. This will be a day of safety education for children and parents, with games, entertainment, child identification kits, prizes, inflatables and food. Playing It Safe, a free annual safety fair sponsored by Carle and Safe Kids Champaign County. For more information please go online.

Relay for Life (Sat. Jun 13, 2015 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm)

Champaign County's Relay for Life will take place on Saturday, June 13th beginning at Noon at Centennial High School, 913 Crescent Dr in Champaign. The event starts with a parade at Noon Andrae's Harley Davidson in Urbana. A survivor ceremony will be held at 6pm and there will be many other events. The Relay continues until Sunday at 6am. The University of Illinois Extension Macon County Master Gardeners will host the 2015 Garden Walk from 2pm-6pm on Saturday, June 14th, rain or shine in Decatur. There will be six gardens on a self-guided tour. Light refreshments will be provided. Tickets are available for $10 in advance and can be obtained by calling or going online. Tickets are $12 the day of the event.
