New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, will host the 1st Annual Patriot Day 5K Fun Run/Walk on Friday, September 11th at 5:45m in downtown Ashland on the corner of Niagara St and W. Mechanic St. This is a family fun/run walk to benefit the Ashland Fire Dept. The cost is $20 per runner until August 31, after the 31st the cost will be $25. Registration is online. There will be a Pork Chop Dinner and Benefit for Virginia Pokryke, Summit Learning Academy Director, to help with medical expenses incurred in her battle with cancer, on Sunday, September 13th at 4pm at Grace United Methodist Church, 1345 Chartres St in LaSalle. The event will feature Steve Westerman and the Written Warning Band. Silent auction and kids activities will also be held. The dinner cost is $8. For more details please call.

13th Annual Mark Linder Walk for the MInd (Sat. Sep 26, 2015 7:30 am - 9:30 am)

The 13th Annual 2015 Mark Linder Walk for the Mind will be held Saturday, September 26th along the Peoria riverfront at the RiverPlex. Mark Linder Walk for the Mind is a one mile walk to raise awareness of brain tumors and their impact on patients, family members and friends, and to raise funds for brain tumor research. Eric “Hoovey” Elliott is our Honorary Chairman for the Walk. Registration is online. Registration starts at 7:30am and the Walk begins at 9:30am. Brain Tumor Survivors are free. Illinois Baptist State Association will host Youth Encounter 2015 on Sunday, October 11th from 3-10 pm. This year the conference will be in 3 separate locations: Chicago, Decatur and Mt. Vernon. The cost is $25 for IBSA affiliated churches/$30 for non-affiliated churches and will include dinner. The price goes up to $30 at the door. Please go online for details and registration.

Project 14:18 Orphan Ministry will present a dinner and an Evening with John Waller on Friday, November 6th at the Lincoln Ave Baptist Church, 951 Lincoln Ave in Jacksonville. Doors open at 6pm with dinner at 6:30 pm followed by the music of John Waller. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased by contacting the church by phone or online. Funds raised from the evening will go to benefit an orphan ministry in Haiti.
