Communication: Children and Technology

Perhaps your child or grandchild received a gift with digital technology over the holidays. It’s likely they received a gaming system, smart phone, Kindle, iPad, or something of the like. You may not be aware of the possible dangers that exist through digital technology to children.

Lieutenant Joe McCullough, a detective with the University of Illinois Police Department has seen first hand how scammers and criminals have targeted younger children and families through the Internet.

On this episode of Community Matters, Lt. McCullough shares ways to help ensure that our children are not giving away important information to people who would seek to victimize them, steal their identity, or cause financial issues. We hope that as you hear today’s podcast, you’ll be better equipped to help your child or grandchild navigate safely through this digital age.
