Lyrics

When I can’t catch my breath
Pressed on every side
When all I want is rest
From burdens in this life

Lift up my head
Look me in the eyes and
Tell me I am Your’s

I am safe here
Let down my guard
Fall in Your arms
And stay here
I’m not gonna move
Cause when I’m with You
I’m safe
Though I am broken
I know that I am safe
So, so safe here

I don’t have to try
I’m never lessly Yours
There’s no need to fight
Help me trust You Lord

I am safe here
Let down my guard
Fall in Your arms
And stay here
I’m not gonna move
‘Cause when I’m with You
I’m safe
Though I am broken
I know that I am safe
So, so safe

Lift up my head
Look me in the eyes and
Tell me I am Your’s
Lift up my head
Look me in the eyes and
Tell me I am Your’s
And You are mine
And I am loved

I am safe here
Let down my guard
Fall in Your arms
And stay here
I’m not gonna move
Cause when I’m with You Lord
I’m safe
Though I am broken
I know that I am safe
So, so safe here
Safe here

So, so safe here
Oh, so safe
So safe

I am safe here
So, so safe here

About This Song

God is truly the lifter of our heads! With the rising numbers of people struggling with anxiety, worry and fear, I believe this will be another huge breath of fresh air.

Through the years I've struggled with the whole concept of “safe”. I know God is good! All the time. But on this side of heaven, being safe (in human terms) is not always a guarantee. God's love for us is not dependent upon how safe or unsafe we feel. So it's probably not surprising to learn that I struggled with this song when I first heard it. Are we always safe? I don’t think anyone can say that we are always safe in the external sense. We experience tragedy and pain all around us. But as I continued to pray about it, God showed me how my children are safe in my arms. They may not always be safe in every circumstance and there are many times I need to help them through difficult things in which they don’t feel safe. I cannot protect them from every danger, however they know they are safe with me. I won't bring intentional damage to them. My love for them is so much greater than anything they may walk though. Plus, I can see things they can't. There are times when they don't "feel" safe, but I know that they are.

How much more with our Heavenly Father. We can trust Him! We can let our guard down with Him and know that we are indeed safe in His arms. No matter what happens this side of heaven. If He is for us - who (or what) could stand against us? Spending time with this song helped me see that God is not “safe” in the Western way of thinking, that He will shield us from all unpleasant experiences. But He is so good and He is always with us, and in His love is where we find true, eternal safety. A safety that transcends anything we experience on this planet.
